Teen Killed, Another Injured in Manhattan Bicycle Crash
A serious crash in Manhattan late Friday night has left one teenager dead and another injured after a commercial truck struck two girls riding together on a bicycle, according to police.
The incident happened around 9 p.m. on September 18 in Manhattan's East Village as the truck was traveling west on East 14th Street and turning onto First Avenue.
One Teenager Died
Police said the two girls, ages 15 and 16, were riding together when the collision occurred.
The 15-year-old passenger, identified as Daria Serkov, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The 16-year-old bicycle rider was injured and hospitalized with leg injuries. Reports said she was in stable condition.
The truck driver, a 57-year-old man, remained at the scene and was not reported injured.
